    Family Medicine Scholarship Session 12/15/25

Calling All FMIG Medical Students – Join Us for Family Medicine Scholarship Sessions!

Are you curious about how research and scholarship fit into family medicine? Interested in learning practical skills that could help you in your own scholarly pursuits? We're inviting you to sit in on our annual Family Medicine Scholarly Work & Research Sessions, held specifically for family medicine interns during their Core Skills block this December!

    In-Person UWFMR:
    331 NE Thornton Pl
    Seattle, WA 98125

These sessions are designed to introduce the fundamentals of family medicine scholarship, provide exposure to real-world research opportunities, and inspire ideas for scholarly projects. This is a unique opportunity to get an inside look at how family medicine residents brainstorm, design, and execute projects during residency.

    Topics May Include:
    Survey research
    Writing and defending resolutions
    Quality improvement (QI)
Abstract writing (with examples of works-in-progress and completed projects)
    Designing a research question
Using EHR data (Slicer Dicer and Leaf)
    Study designs
    Preparing posters and oral presentations
    Research in community practice settings

Whether you’re a research novice or already well-versed, there’s something here for everyone! You can pick which sessions to attend and sign up in advance, but attendance is completely optional.

Faculty Lead: Dr. Nikki Gentile, MD, PhD

If you have specific questions about these sessions, please email Dr. Gentile at ngentile@uw.edu and cc Ivan Henson at ivanodin@uw.edu

Join us to learn, network, and discover how scholarship plays a role in shaping the future of family medicine!
