Palos Village Players, "Almost, Maine" Auditions

Join the Palos Village Players for auditions for our upcoming production of Almost, Maine!

Please sign-up for one time slot. We will be auditioning in groups of six actors during each thirty minute time slot.

Set beneath the northern lights in the fictional town of Almost, Maine, this beloved contemporary play tells a collection of charming, funny, and heartfelt stories about love, friendship, loss, and second chances. Filled with unforgettable characters and a touch of magic, Almost, Maine is a beautiful reminder that the most extraordinary moments can happen on the most ordinary nights.
Whether you're a longtime member of PVP or brand new to our stage, we encourage performers of all experience levels to come audition!

Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00-9:30
Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00-9:30
Callbacks (if needed): Thursday, September 10 at 7:00 PM

Performance Dates
November 13, 14, 20, & 21 at 7:00 PM
November 15 at 2:00 PM

Auditions: Each actor will be asked to do cold reads from the script.

Character Descriptions (actors maybe play multiple roles)

Prologue, Interlogue, and Epilogue
Pete: Nerdy, sweet, mature, gentle, and loving; dating Ginette.
Ginette: Loving, shy, and curious; dating Pete.

Scene 1: Her Heart
East: A quiet, empathetic repairman who mends things.
Glory: A confused, sorrowful hiker carrying her broken heart in a paper bag.

Scene 2: Sad and Glad
Jimmy: A chipper, energetic heating and cooling repair guy.
Sandrine: Regretful and caught off guard at a local bar.
Waitress: Peppy, no-nonsense, and connected to Jimmy.

Scene 3: This Hurts
Marvalyn: A protective woman who accidentally hits Steve with an ironing board.
Steve: An open, kind, and inquisitive fellow who doesn't feel pain.

Scene 4: Getting It Back
Gayle: Peppy, eager, and demanding a return of all the love she gave.
Lendall: Strong and grounded, trying to hand back love in a large bag.

Scene 5: They Fell
Randy & Chad: Two chipper, "bro-ish" county boys who unexpectedly fall for one another. (Alternatively played as Deena and Shelly).

Scene 6: Where It Went
Phil: A hardworking, bewildered regular guy.
Marci: A tired, unhappy wife looking for lost love.

Scene 7: Story of Hope
Hope: Adventurous and regretful, traveling the world before stopping at the wrong house.
Daniel (Man): Sorrowful and shrinking from heartbreak.

Scene 8: Seeing the Thing
Rhonda: A tough, tomboyish local who has been friends with Dave for years.
Dave: Kind, hopeful, and artistic, trying to win Rhonda over.
