Othello Outreach Clinic - Winter 2020

The Othello Outreach Clinic is a screen and refer UW SHIFA clinic in partnership with Mercy Housing Northwest and the Somali Health Board. The clinic serves residents of Mercy Housing's Othello Plaza affordable housing complex (located right across from the Othello light rail station!) as well as members of the broader Somali and south Seattle community. During clinic, the Somali Health Board leads culturally appropriate health education as well as effective outreach efforts. Our goal is that the clinic will facilitate mutual education between students, preceptors and members of the Somali and greater south Seattle community.

Pre-clinical and clinical students will see walk-in clients to provide basic health screening services (blood pressure, weight, blood glucose testing once volunteers have been trained) and a basic history and physical if clients have a particular concern. Other UW students will be present in the capacity of referral coordinators to set up clients with primary care or specialty care appointments and ensure follow-up as needed.

The Othello light rail station is across from the clinic (approx. 40 minutes from the UW station) and there is plenty of street parking nearby.

Clinic time: Saturday 12:30pm - 3:30pm
