Health Fair 1/15/2022 Interpreter Sign Up

Hosted by volunteers@shifauw.org

This event is lead by Giselle Zapata-García, Navigator Enrollment Manager – Public Health Centers & Latinx Coordinator
Public Health – Seattle & King County

In collaboration with Public Health Seattle & King County, Latinos Promoting Good Health Committee, UW School of Medicine, UW School of Pharmacy and UW School of Physical Therapy, SHIFA organizes and participates in health fairs. SHIFA health fairs afford students, under the guidance and supervision of an experienced physician, the opportunity to provide health screening and health education services to uninsured, low-income, and immigrant populations in King County and the greater Puget Sound region.

Interpreters will help translate as participants receive basic screening services such as blood pressure, A1c, BMI, blood glucose and cholesterol testing. They will also interpret as participants review their results, are counseled about any abnormal results, and are given resources to establish care with a primary care provider. Fairs offer students the opportunity to serve in an interdisciplinary setting with pharmacy and dental students, and to work with individuals from diverse and underserved communities. Along with our stations for health screening, this event will have stations such as COVID-19 Vaccines, Physical Therapy Screening, Medicaid Insurance Enrollment, and others.

If you have any questions, please reach out to Meghan Hershkowitz at hershm2@uw.edu. Thank you for joining us!
