SYNOPSIS
The Play That Goes Wrong is about the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, an amateur theater group that puts on a murder mystery play called Murder at Haversham Manor once a year. The play begins with the cast facing many challenges, including forgotten lines, faulty props, and broken scenery. Other disasters include misunderstandings, fires, and a collapsing set. The cast also includes an unconscious leading lady, a corpse that can't play dead, and actors who trip over everything. Mayhem ensues, the acting gets worse, and the set becomes increasingly dangerous. The question is whether any of the cast and crew will remain standing, or conscious, by the final curtain.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS:

Chris Bean: plays inspector Carter and fills in for the role of Mr. Fitzroy – also is the show’s set designer, costume designer, prop maker, box office manager, press person, voice coach, choreographer, and more. He is uptight and nervous.

Jonathan Harris: plays Charles Haversham and sees himself as a kind of James Bond.

Robert Grove: plays Thomas Colleymoore and is a bad actor and unaware of those around him.

Dennis Tyde: plays Perkins and is involved in theater because he wants friends.

Sandra Wilkinson: plays Florence Colleymoore and is extremely conceited.

Max Bennett: plays Cecil Haversham and Arther the Gardener and is inexperienced and naive.

Trevor Watson: the lighting and sound operator and is all business.

Annie Twilloil: the stage manager who grows a love for acting after initially being terrified of it.

Please sign up for ONE slot and arrive a 15 minutes prior to your audition slot to fill out an audition form.

Come prepared with a comedic monologue not exceeding 3 minutes in length. Though it's preferred, monologues do not need to be memorized. You may also be asked to do cold readings from the script.

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE: Rehearsal schedule will be determined off of cast's availability. Sunday evenings are definite.

TECH SCHEDULE: TBA

PERFORMANCES: June 1st-3rd & 7th-9th

Rehearsals will be determined based off of cast availability. COME WITH A LIST OF YOUR CONFLICTS. We will not accept conflicts AFTER the show has been cast. We cannot cast those with multiple conflicts, or conflicts during tech week through performance dates.
