Interrupting Medicine Series

Hi all,

We would like to invite you to a series of discussions we will be having called the 'Interrupting Medicine Series'. In these sessions, we will be screening the short documentaries called Unnatural Causes and the occasional TED talk, and then using the space afterwards to discuss themes presented in the videos. We will attempt to coordinate the documentaries we choose with what the MS1s are learning in class. Our goal is to come together with people from different backgrounds and perspectives to discuss the social determinants of health such as race, gender, and class. This is meant to be a safe and non-judgmental space where we can learn and grow together in a community where we can discuss these issues rather than 'walking on egg shells'. These discussions are intended to be student led and student focused, we are not coming with any agenda beyond the video we are screening!

We have partnered with CLIME and will be providing food for our time together! So come eat lunch with us so we can all learn more about each other.

Who: All medical students are welcome along with staff and faculty!
What: Interrupting Medicine Series
When: Wednesdays from 12-1:20 (we will screen the same video 2 weeks in a row, once for Cascade and once for Olympic colleges for the MS1s; so if you can only make it every other week, that works perfectly!)

Why: To build community, discuss difference respectfully, and to create a norm around talking about difficult issues. Also to eat lunch!
