2020 McGill International Portfolio Challenge

Hosted by communications@stuart.iit.edu

The McGill International Portfolio Challenge is the first international competition targeting innovative portfolio design and asset management. It is truly unique in its mandate to shift the focus of academic competitions to the buy-side and to provide students with more visibility on
opportunities therein. The competition is designed to bridge the gap between students with a demonstrated interest in asset management and industry leaders. MIPC cases are designed to challenge students’ quantitative and qualitative skill sets.

Presented in partnership with Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) and more of the globe’s premier institutional investors, MIPC has the ability to offer C$50,000 in annual cash prizes—a figure that makes this one of the most prestigious and attractive university competitions in the world.

We are assembling a team of up to four students who will be enrolled until at least December 2020. Undergraduate and graduate students who have a demonstrated interest in the buy side of finance are encouraged to apply to be part of Stuart’s MIPC team.

Students will be required to adopt a fiduciary mentality in creating an innovative portfolio mix tailored to a complex institutional client profile. The analysis will include many factors present in the industry but rarely discussed in academic curriculums, pushing students to bridge the gap
between theoretical knowledge and industry standards. The factors include, but are not limited to, portfolio re-balancing, taxes, market impact, liquidity needs and trading fees.

Sign up below for *one* 15-minute interview. All interviews will be held on a virtual basis and will be conducted on Friday, April 24th and Monday, April 27th. Students are required to send two copies of their resumes prior to their interview to Dr. Curt Allee at callee@stuart.iit.edu.

Please contact Prof. Rybak with any questions: mrybak@stuart.iit.edu.
