Aloha Inn - Spring 2020

Aloha Inn is a transitional housing program for formerly homeless adults. This program aims to provide residents with a stable environment, while allowing them to save money and make use of resources for moving into permanent housing. Since 2002, an interprofessional team of students spanning the schools of medicine, medex, nursing, pharmacy, and social work has maintained a working relationship with Aloha Inn. The product of this has been a no-charge screening & referral clinic, called the Aloha Health Outreach Center, which opened its doors over 10 years ago. Twice a month, SHIFA leads this student run clinic where residents can be seen on a walk-in basis. In addition to the the Aloha Health Outreach Center, residents at Aloha Inn are supported by a wide variety of social services that help maximize their success in transitioning towards independent living.

Signing up for the clinic allows you the opportunity to take history and physicals, present cases to physician preceptors, and assist physician preceptors in the evaluation of the clients.

Clinic runs from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. An email with clinic details will be sent to those signed up.

Alternates will be emailed about the process of being called in to volunteer.
