2018 Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition - Bailiffs

Hosted by thomastangmootcourt@gmail.com

Please volunteer to serve as a bailiff for the National Thomas Tang Moot Court Competition (Competition). The Competition is an appellate advocacy competition sponsored by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA) Law Foundation and held in conjunction with the annual NAPABA Convention on November 9-10, 2018 in Chicago, IL. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Competition!

The bailiff serves a very important function in the Competition. The bailiff's role is to call the Court to order, maintain decorum in the "courtroom," time the oral presentations, serve as a liaison to your assigned judges and competitors, and ensure that participating teams observe the rules of the Competition. Additionally, the bailiff will be able to observe and learn from other law school students who are competing in the Competition, and network with judges and attorneys.

There will be two preliminary rounds and a quarterfinal round on Friday, November 9, 2018:

-Preliminary Round 1: 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
-Preliminary Round 2: 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
-Quarterfinal Round: 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The preliminary and quarterfinal rounds will be held at the Sheraton Grand Chicago located at 301 E. North Water St., Chicago, IL 60611. Please report to the Tennessee meeting room located on the second level. We ask that you arrive at least 30 minutes before your scheduled round to pick up your bailiff materials and ensure that your room is set up correctly.

You may sign up to serve as a bailiff for any of the rounds. We also need volunteers to serve as alternates in case of last minute cancellations. If you need to modify or cancel your commitment before Friday, November 2, 2018, please do so via the wejoinin.com link you used to sign up to serve as a volunteer bailiff. If you have to cancel your commitment after Friday, November 2, 2018, please email Linda Tran (linda.tran.m37t@statefarm.com) or Leah Gould (gould.leah@gmail.com).
