Big Data: What is it and what does it mean to you?

From Facebook and Google to the United States Internal Revenue Service, data is constantly being collected on you. The phrase “if you are not paying for the product, you are the product” has never been more true than it is today. Examine “behind the scenes” database processing and how it produces relationships that public and private sectors can use to predict human behavior. Dr. Joe West, the Director of the UNCP’s Master of Public Administration program, will conduct the “Big Data” seminar Tuesday, October 24th, at 4:00 pm in Business Administration Building, room 130.
