UDSM EGH Outreach Sunday 1/26 9 am - 12 pm
Location: Elizabeth Gregory House
Meet at University Lutheran at 1604 NE 50th St.
Elizabeth Gregory Home is a women's day shelter located in the U District very close to campus which serves women who are experiencing homelessness. Some of the services that Elizabeth Gregory Home provides are a computer lab with internet access, free laundry facilities, individual care management services, kitchen with food for cooking and a dining area, mail and phone message, restrooms, accessible showers, and a place to sleep. Volunteers will meet with adults to discuss health concerns, check vital signs and to offer health education.
Volunteers should expect to be at EGH from 9am-12 and be providing care from 9:30-11:30am. All volunteers should be in a medically-focused graduate program (DNP, PA, Med school) or in a social work program. It is a requirement of EGH that all volunteers be female.
How to prepare: Wear casual, non-provocative clothing, comfortable shoes and refrain from wearing flashy items like expensive jewelry. Bring your UW name badge if you have one!
***Please list your school/discipline, year, and phone number when signing-up!!
*"Backup" volunteers will be contacted if a volunteer can no longer make their shift. Please DO NOT "give" your shift to a friend, as we want to make it fair and allow the next person on the list to attend.
Cancellations: If you sign-up for a session and need to cancel, please notify the Volunteer Coordinator at
mraza99@uw.edu. If canceling within 12 hours of outreach, please contact outreach manager!
UDSM outreach managers: Mary N. Mathison mmathis@uw.edu & Emily Robson erobs@uw.edu
