Turkeypalooza 2011!
The Campus Kitchen at UMass Boston will hold a food drive during Hunger & Homelessness Week to create Thanksgiving meal baskets for families in need. Every week, we serve meals to the children at the Walter Denney Youth Center, a Boys & Girls Club right here in Columbia Point. Please help us ensure that every child has a Happy Thanksgiving this fall by enlisting your academic department, student club, or campus organization in holding a food drive.
Teams can choose one food item to collect. We have a designated list of items and ask that 2 teams sign up for each food (4 for turkey). Your team will collect as much of your chosen food item (ie: sweet potatoes) as possible during Hunger & Homelessness Week, November 14-18, 2011. The week of Thanksgiving, gift baskets containing a turkey and traditional fixings will be delivered to the Youth Center for families to take home. You are always welcome to give money or time. We'll need volunteers for gift basket assembly and delivery.
*Please Note* This sign up form is intended for teams (ie: the English Department or the Office of Student Leadership & Community Engagement). Individuals are welcome to contribute ANY food or monetary donations.
