Bridges Church:24-Hour Prayer: September 10 starting at 6pm
Purpose: Creating a time to center on God
Praying is a way to connect with God. It is a conversation with Him. One way to experience connecting with Him is using a format in which you first approach God by praising Him. This can be done simply by using a scripture from Psalms, or any other verse, such as 1 Chronicles 29:11-13, with which you can express your praise to Him. Next, a time of confession always clears the air between you and God (1 John 1:9). Thanking Him for answers to prayer, and for all He has done for you acknowledges His presence in your life and connects you to His power. After these steps, it's easy to tell God about all that is going on and what you are asking of Him; in other words, intercessory prayer. Be encouraged because God does listen and will respond in His own timing.
Here is a list of topics to ask God about:
Salvation of friends and Family
Healing (physical, emotional and spiritual)
Financial freedom
Community leaders, i.e police
Local schools
stress load
right choices
Godly friends
September 11th (anniversary of terrorist attack)
Peace
Healing
Political Leaders
National leaders
State leaders
County Leaders
Please be thinking of people and places in your life who fit in these categories.
Another way to connect with God, in addition to prayer, is fasting. Fasting needs to be done in humility, not broadcasting it to others, but taking the time to pray in place of something that you enjoy doing. It can be a meal, TV watching or refraining from any other kind of media. . . . . you've got the idea.
