#summerSERVE - Saturday, August 8, 2015 with Journey's End AND Back to Nature
Saturday, August 8th, 2015
7:30 AM - 2:00 PM
A campus community initiative, #summerSERVE connects students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends of Rollins College giving them the opportunity to continue their engagement with the local community throughout the summer. Through direct service, community engagement, and education, #summerSERVE provides the chance for everyone involved to build meaningful relationships.
In honor of the recipient of the Thad Seymour Award for Community Engagement, Ann Francis, #summerSERVE will be partnering with TWO SEPARATE organizations that work with animals. One group will head to Journey's End, an animal sanctuary for abused and neglected animals. The second group will head to Back to Nature, a non-profit dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and release of wildlife . Participant projects for Journey's End will include activities with the animals. Participant projects with Back to Nature will include outdoor landscaping and beautification activities.
Please meet at the Cornell Fine Arts Museum at a 7:30 AM. Transportation from Rollins, snacks, water, sunscreen and bugspray will be provided. Remember to bring a water bottle, closed toe shoes, and a #summerSERVE t-shirt (if you have one or just any Rollins shirt). We plan to be back at Rollins by 12;30 PM, however, lunch will be provided for this event. The groups will meet back on campus following the service projects for a special celebratory meal from 12:30 p.m. – 2:00 p.m.
For questions or accommodations please email Brianna Pearson at BPEARSON@Rollins.edu.
